Transforming Ireland's Public Works
Public works projects are vital for the development and enhancement of a nation's infrastructure, and at Truwood, we are delighted to play our part in this with our exceptional craftsmanship and high-quality joinery.
We boast a rich portfolio of prestigious projects, which we believe has left an indelible mark on the landscape of public buildings, elevating their aesthetic appeal and functionality. Our exceptional craftsmanship is showcased in prominent public works across Ireland, including the iconic Leinster House, the National Gallery of Ireland, various council buildings, courthouses, libraries, and most recently the Garda Security & Crimes Operations Centre and the Forensic Science Labs in Co. Kildare.
Famous Buildings
Each public works project has its own unique requirements and features. For example, at Leinster House, our specialist joinery work, included reception desks, a postbox and pigeon hole wall, display cabinets, radiator surrounds to state rooms and tea stations. Working closely with contractors Duggan Brothers and OPW, we ensured that the woodwork harmoniously blended with the building's historic architecture.
Our joinery work at the National Gallery of Ireland has beautifully complemented the gallery's art collection. As a conservation project, we were required to work in a highly sensitive manner and to on-site requirements where our works included; reception desks, gallery benches, storage units, cloakroom desk, wall mounted cabinet and office screen. As is evident from the finished result, this was a truly exciting project for Truwood to have been involved with.
Inspiring Spaces for Knowledge and Culture
Our involvement in library projects has transformed these spaces into inviting sanctuaries for knowledge seekers. By creating bespoke storage and shelving, reception desks and bench seating, we have contributed to the creation of vibrant environments that inspire learning and cultural enrichment.
Dun Laoghaire Lexicon Library, opened in 2015, was designed by Carr Cotter Naessens Architects and we used European oak throughout which was handpicked, by ourselves and the contractors John Sisk, from timber suppliers in Denmark and Italy. This project was designed to offer a mix of both social and quieter intimate spaces and Truwood’s involvement was complete fit-out of all joinery works over five floors, panelling, stairs, fitted furniture, storage and shelving. Environmental considerations are also a priority, and this particular project was FSC & PEFC accredited.
Other library projects that we have been involved in include Castletymon Library in Tallaght, Dublin and Kilmallock Library in Co. Limerick. All our joinery work complements the architectural vision of the libraries, enhancing the overall ambiance and facilitating the preservation and dissemination of knowledge.
Transforming Administrative Spaces
Our expertise extends beyond national landmarks and libraries to include county council buildings and courthouses across Ireland. Through our fit-out services, we have revitalised administrative spaces, blending modernity with functionality. From bench seating, custom-designed desks, docks and reception areas to elegant wall panelling and stairs, our joinery work brings a touch of refinement to these civic buildings.
Our recent involvement in the Garda Security & Crime Operations Centre demonstrates our ability to provide functional and aesthetically pleasing joinery solutions. By installing reception desks, atrium screens, and cladding, we have enhanced the centre's ambiance, creating a welcoming and professional environment. The meticulous craftsmanship showcased in the various types of wall panelling further adds to the sophistication of the space. Working closely with John Paul construction, this new six storey state-of-the-art building houses several Garda Bureaus and operational units and will provide vital Garda infrastructure to support the delivery of national policing and security services.
Our exceptional joinery work in Ireland's public works sector has contributed to transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones. From the iconic Leinster House to county council buildings, courthouses, libraries, and the National Gallery of Ireland, our craftsmanship has left an indelible mark on the country's architectural landscape. With an unwavering commitment to quality and attention to detail, Truwood continues to elevate public spaces, creating environments that inspire, impress, and stand the test of time.
