CAD Technician
We are looking for an experienced CAD Technician who is capable of producing high end joinery drawings from tender drawings, client briefs and site surveys through to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of joinery. and will be required to prepare production drawings in Autocad & Revit. They will need to use their technical knowledge and draught skills to produce quality working drawings.
Role
The main duty of a Drawing Technician is to ensure all drawings for projects they are working on are completed to expectation in regards to 1. Time and 2. Quality. The size and number of drawing projects assigned to the Technician will depend on the work-load at any given time but will be split evenly between Drawing Technicians as fairly as possible.
Design/Site Meetings
Attend pre-commencement meetings if required
Attend weekly design meetings if required
Working Drawings
Preparation of production information drawings in Revit & Autocad.
Liaise with project managers & production manager to simplify the working drawings as much as possible (from Truwood’s POV)
Communicate with Project/Contracts Managers any manufacturing issues noticed prior to submitting drawings for comment/approval
Develop a drawing schedule for each project keeping in mind production and fitting schedules.
Provide project managers with working drawings on time so that they can submit to architects/ clients for approval
All revisions to be made in a timely/ efficient manner
As much information as possible to be included on working drawings i.e. types/ finishes etc. to avoid joiners/ sprayers having any queries
Provide technical support and assistance to Architects and Senior Architectural Technicians where required to
Use Technical knowledge and draughting skills to produce quality working drawings
Implementing CAD Revit standards
Training
Drawing Technicians will be expected to undertake training where management deems it appropriateIf drawing technician feels they require any training in a specific area they can bring it to management’s attention and decision will be made on proposal
Other
Expected to keep up to date with working knowledge of Irish Building and Planning Regulations
Always keeping standardisation of repeat products in mind e.g. kitchens & bars to allow for easier manufacturing.
Responsible for preparation of O&M Manuals and RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
Qualifications and Skills
Trained and proficient in the use of AutoCAD and have the ability to produce precise working drawings
Previous work experience as a CAD technician in the joinery environment will be looked favourably on.
Fluency in both written and oral English are also vital to the role.
